Our Dear Holy Father was a landmark in strengthening my faith. His love and caring about his flock was felt very deeply in my heart. I saw him in Winnipeg 1984 - at a time when the Catholic "gossip" said 'what does Rome know about us? They never come here,'
I was at WYD 1993 in Denver with my daughter, Kristine, sent daughter Jessica to France 1997 and Rome 2000, and volunteered at Toronto 2002.
I miss him very much but treasure his words "Do not be afraid" which by the way gave me a concrete direction for Y2K when there was so much confusion about what was going to happen in the year 2000.
His faithfullness to the teachings of the Church and the Chair of Peter have restored my faith and caused me to search more in understanding the teachings of our Church.
I pray for the many priests in Canada whose vocations have become confused and are not following the proper rubrics of the Mass. Please pray for them Holy Father from your place with the Commmunion of Saints.
I express my condolences to my fellow Catholics with the loss of our Dear Holy Father Pope John Paul II.
With love in Christ,
