Cardinal Marc Ouellet, P.S.S., was born in Quebec on June 8, 1944. He was rector and professor at many major seminaries in Canada from 1972 until 1997. On March 3, 2001, he was elected bishop of Agropolu and was appointed secretary of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. He was created a cardinal on October 21, 2003. His titular church is St. Mary in Traspontina. He became Archbishop of the metropolitan and primatial see of Quebec on November 15, 2003. He resigned as Archbishop on 30 June 2010 and on the same day was appointed Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America.
