JUBILEE OF BLOOD DONORS TO BE CELEBRATED
| VATICAN CITY, OCT. 12, 2000 (ZENIT.org).- The Jubilee of Blood Donors will be celebrated Oct.21 at the Vatican.
"The anonymous and totally unremunerated donation of blood recalls the sacrifice of Christ and is inconsonance with the spirit of the Jubilee of the Year 2000, which sees in charity one of its motives ofinspiration," said a statement from the Vatican Central Committee for the Holy Year.
The initiative is being coordinated by the "Unio Sanguis Christi" and other volunteer organizations. Red
Cross delegations have been invited to participate.
The Jubilee of Blood Donors will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the arrival in St. Peter's Square of members
of organizations that coordinate the donation of blood. A Jubilee Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m.
followed by a meeting with John Paul II at noon.
