Apostolic Journey to Sri Lanka and the Philippines, 13-19 January 2015
Pope Francis

In his second trip to Asia (following his Apostolic Visit to South Korea), Pope Francis travels to Sri Lanka and the Philippines. Both countries have a tradition of papal visits, Bl. Paul VI having visited in both in 1970, and St. John Paul II in 1981, and in 1995 for World Youth Day. Another purpose of the Holy Father's visit is to provide comfort to survivors and families of the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
