Homosexuals asked to leave the church
Question from Joyce on 7/23/2009:

Dear Father,

Throughout my working career, I've worked with men who are gay. Once, I talked to a man who was very upset because the Christian church he had been attending asked him to leave and not come back. I understand that homsexuality is a grave sin. Yet, if the church won't allow him access, how will he have a chance to change his life and be saved? Would the Catholic church also ask him to leave?

Thank you, Joyce

Answer by Fr.Stephen F. Torraco on 7/24/2009:

BEING homosexual is not in itself sinful. Homosexual ACTIVITY is sinful. The Catholic Church would not ask a homosexual to leave just because of his BEING homosexual.
