Indian syro malabar and syro malankara rite.
Question from Pratibha George on 8/22/2017:

Hi there. I was part of the syro malabar rite of the Catholic church in India. Married into syro malankara church. Both have different mass rites but essential parts remain the same. Definitely longer and more complicated than the latin rite as im not so fluent in the local language. But why is it that their mass readings and even certain celebrations are different from the Roman catholic church. ?

Answer by Robert Klesko on 10/13/2017:

Thanks for the question. Briefly, the Eastern Churches have their own liturgical calendar and lectionary which are different from the Roman calendar and lectionary. This emphasizes the unique character of the Eastern Churches.

Hope this helps! God bless!
