EWTN Catholic Q&A
General Questions
Question from Anthony Gonzales on 03-19-2017:

I am a 68 year old Catholic widower. I have a 61 year old female friend who is very selfish and a non-Catholic. She cares about her own children first who are already adults, herself second, and God third.

I help her out with many of her daily needs, including driving her around for 6 weeks after she had surgery, and helping her with money when she needs it.

Is there any merit in helping a selfish person whom you feel does not really appreciate what you do for her?

Thanks for taking my question.

Dear Anthony,

There is a lot of merit in those good deeds.
