EWTN Catholic Q&A
Why Are Jews Categorized As A Race?
Question from Margo Conklin on 04-14-2017:

Why are Jews referred to as a "race?"

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 04-16-2017:

Dear Margo,

Originally being a Jew was a religious thing. A pagan could become a Jew if he circumcised himself and worshipped with the community. When Jews lose their religious faith, they remain Jews racially, not religiously.
