MITT ROMNEY ERROR
Question from CATHOLIC GRANDMOTHER on 4/30/2012:

Hi Judie,

Please accept my apology in my error on Mitt Romney.

When I listened to the CNN video, which I believed was from the recent debates, he stated he believed in the sanctity of life from the "beginning until the end". I made a mistake by using "birth" till death. That was the end of the clip. I took it to really mean he was Pro-Life! That is what I took my information from and according to his website.

HOWEVER, reading the responses regarding my posts and your explanation now brings more light to the issue. I appreciate your critique on my post as I want to know the truth regarding Mitt Romney.

It's so confusing as his website and the quick video I saw on CNN and only listening to that information left me believing he changed. So, what does a Catholic do this election? I know you are against the lesser evil. Since I am rather new in that area, what can we do with only Mitt Romney for a candidate? I know we can pray for someone else, but can that really happen at this late stage? Can a new candidate get in? Well I certainly will pray for that, but what do we do in November if we have no one else? Take a chance that Obama would get in? I don't like the lesser evil choice either, so how do we get Obama out? Or not vote at all. Hard choices.

I apologize for not researching more and upsetting anyone here. I learn so much from your posts.

Again, thank you for removing my post. I should have researched more.

God Bless

Answer by Judie Brown on 4/30/2012:

Dear Catholic Grandmother

You are such a humble woman and I respect you totally for your response. I am glad that the exchange helped you and enlightened, I hope, everyone who participated.

First of all, let me say that I do not believe that a president or a member of Congress can end abortion. What I do believe is that Americans, one by one, need conversion to the truth that a child exists at his biological beginning and is from that point forward a member of the human family. This will require something entirely different than merely voting in an election.

When a Catholic goes into the voting booth he has to evaluate what his vote will mean for the good of the nation including restoration of the culture of life, but that Catholic also has to realize that to intentionally vote for anyone who embraces an agenda of evil is to sin against God.

The stakes are high, but politics is not the solution. Vote as you know Christ would have you vote. He is the way, the truth and the light.
