Re: Margret Mead
Question from Paul on 3/24/2014:

Hello Judy,

Does the Church consider anthropologist Margaret Mead a heretic AND was she pro-life?

Thank you,

Paul

Answer by Judie Brown on 3/27/2014:

The history of Margaret Mead, detained by Sam Nigro, MD in a wonderful article is sordid and not at all in compliance with Catholic teaching. Mead was not pro-life. http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/library/view.cfm? id=721&CFID=44577286&CFTOKEN=77707917

Was Mead defined as a heretic by the Church? I do not know but this article does put her in the same category as Margaret Sanger. Why would the Church bother with someone as misguided as Mead? http://catholiceducation.org/articles/sexuality/se0120.html
