deliverance ministry
Question from William Steel on 10/26/2012:

Are there any church documents mentioning Deliverance Ministry other than what one might interpret from Holy Scripture? This is referring to the laity. Is there something in the documents from Vatican II ?

Answer by David Gregson on 1/28/2014:

If "deliverance ministry" is understood as prayer, whether by one or by a number of the faithful, for a person subject to vice or to demonic influence, then it would be legitimate. If, however, "deliverance" is equated with exorcism, it would not. Only a priest can exorcize, and that only with his Bishop' authorization. See Deacons and Exorcisms.
