Returning to the Church
Question from Anonymous on 4/9/2012:

I was baptized Catholic as a child, but my family never practiced and I knew nothing about the faith throughout my life. I was invited to a sedevacantist group at the end of high school, where I was conditionally baptized, given my first communion and confirmed. After several years I found numerous philosophical errors with the sedevacantists and embraced the Church and the Pope. For the past three years, I have been attending a normal Catholic parish and am an active participant and have never been happier. I know that several sedevacantist nuns from this group left around the time I did and were received with open arms. With that said, is there anything else I need to do? I was recently reading previous questions on the topic, all of the sudden I am very concerned I am subject to excommunication or worse which would devastate me. I thought all I had to do was return. Perhaps this is a doctrine question and not a philosophy question but, since different priests and different bishops have different philosophies on this issue, I thought I'd start here.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 4/12/2012:
