Eating Pork - Shell Fish
Question from Cattherine on 10/18/2013:

Are there any restrictions in the Catholic Faith with regard to eating either pork or shellfish (bottom feeders)? My Jewish friends insist that it is wrong.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 10/20/2013:

Dear Catherine,

Your Jewish friends are right according to the practices of Judaism. But Christians are not bound by such dietary laws. This became clear when St. Peter had the vision when God announced that there was no longer clean and unclean animals. Even Jewish Christians were allowed to eat them if they chose.
