adoption
Question from Julie on 12/8/2013:

Hello, My husband and I are in our early-mid forties. We have a four year old child. We live very simply and I am able to stay home. With so many children needing a home, because we might have some money coming to us and because this idea is heavy on my heart, I wonder if we should adopt a child. I feel very fearful of this decision because I know what we have know and don't know how this will impact the future. Then I feel guilty for waiting so long since "To more given, more is expected." We are very blessed and don't know if God wants us to live this way. I don't have peace- either we are enjoying our life while others are suffering or we go ahead and what we do have is stressed. Thank you for your help in this.

Answer by Richard Geraghty on 1/17/2014:

Der Julie,

Since you husband agrees with you, why not takes steps to adopt? You will learn a good bit in the process. It would help if you could meet some couple who has adopted. Does anyone out there know of any group who gives advice in these matters?

Dr. Geraghty
