Re: Funeral/Burial
Question from Pamela on 5/29/2013:

In response to the questioner's intent to be cremated and remains scattered over the ocean or mountains, I thought Catholic Church encouraged the corporal work of mercy of burying the dead. Does the Church really allow scattering ashes or keeping of the ashes? It doesn't sound right, although I can see how families can find this cost effective. I have also had concerns about how expensive it is to be buried, and that is what I desire when I die . . . but getting buried is costly these days.

Answer by Judie Brown on 5/30/2013:

Pamela

I corrected my response to make clear that the Church does require proper burial of the ashes.
