Vatican Prayer Vigil Held for Peace in Syria and Iraq
Faithful Affirm That Nothing Is Impossible for Him Who Believes
VATICAN CITY, July 04, 2014 (Zenit.org) - The Vatican held Thursday evening a prayer vigil for peace in Syria and Iraq.
The prayer initiative, which took place Rome's Basilica of the Twelve Apostles, followed the example set by Pope Francis, who called a Day of Prayer for Peace in Syria last September.
It was based on the conviction that "nothing is impossible for him who believes" and welcomed many Catholics from throughout Rome, as well as Vatican senior officials.
President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran, was present, as well as the Auxiliary Bishop of Rome, Matteo Zuppi. (D.C.L.)
