Angelus (11 September 1983)

Author: Pope John Paul II

On Sunday, 11 September 1983, the Holy Father followed the celebration of Holy Mass in Danube Park, Vienna, with the Angelus.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

At the end of this solemn Mass, let us recite the midday Marian prayer together. She reminds us every day how our Christian hope began in the threefold event: the Angel of the Lord brings the message to Mary — Mary says: "let it be done to me according to your word" — and the Word became a of us.

Once again we all want to open ourselves to the message that God sent us in this "Katholikentag", so that His word also becomes flesh in our lives.

Therefore I invite everyone to common prayer: you, who are gathered around the altar — you, who follow us on radio and television — you in all the countries of Europe — but above all you, Christians in Austria: in the dioceses of Salzburg and Vienna, Linz and San Põlten, Graz-Seckau and Eisenstadt, Innsbruclc and Feldkirch.
