Recitation of the Rosary (14 August 1983)

On Sunday, 14 August 1983, the Holy Father recited the Rosary in the Lourdes Grotto, meditating on the Glorious Mysteries.

With the simplicity and fervor of Saint Bernadette, let us recite our rosary!

FIRST DECADE: to honor the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus

— Let us praise the Mother of the Conqueror of death and sin.

— With it, let us praise the risen Christ.

— Let us ask that Mary confirms the faith of the Christian communities in France and throughout the world.

SECOND DECADE: to honor the Exaltation of Christ in Divine Glory , the mystery of the Ascension.

— Let us rejoice with Our Lady in the heavenly glorification of her Son.'

— Let us praise Christ, the new Adam, for having reopened to men a destiny of immortality and life with God.

— Let us entrust to Mary the men and people who have lost, or ignore or fight Christian hope.

THIRD DECADE: to honor the Event of Pentecost.

— Let us praise Mary, in whom the Holy Spirit gave birth to the Redeemer of the world.

— Let us praise Jesus for having sent his Spirit to the first disciples, as he gives it to these today.

— Let us beseech Mary, perfectly faithful to the Spirit, to inspire this same fidelity in those responsible and in the members of the Church.

FOURTH DECADE: to honor the Assumption of the Virgin Mary .

— Let us praise Mary of Nazareth, Mary of Bethlehem, of the Presentation in the Temple, of Cana, of Calvary and of the Cenacle: she was glorified directly in her soul and in her body.

— Let us thank Jesus who made his Mother a participant in his Resurrected life.

— Let us ask Mary to give us the joy, the hope of reunion.

FIFTH DECADE: to honor the Coronation of Our Lady .

— Let us salute, with all Tradition, Mary" who participates in the spiritual kingship of Christ the Redeemer.

— Let us bless Jesus for having associated his Mother with the extension of his Kingdom!

O Mother of the Church, O Queen of the universe, we ask You, extend maternal protection over the entire earth!
