EWTN Television Service Added to ASTRA Platform
Expands Coverage in Europe
Irondale, Alabama, USA (EWTN) – EWTN Global Catholic Network, the world’s largest Catholic media organization, announced today that it is now carried on the direct-to-home satellite platform, ASTRA 1KR, on transponder 22. ASTRA is the leading satellite system for direct-to-home reception in Europe.
EWTN’s President, Michael P. Warsaw, said that EWTN is grateful that the Network can now be seen in Germany’s 7.5 million digital households and millions of homes throughout Europe.
“This represents a sizeable increase in the potential number of viewers who can now receive the EWTN television service world-wide,” he said.
Subscribers can have access to the Network’s varied offerings of Catholic cultural and educational programming, spiritual conferences, wholesome family entertainment, a LIVE Daily Mass and other devotionals, as well as exclusive and comprehensive LIVE coverage of Vatican and papal events, including Pope Benedict XVI’s weekly public audience. EWTN offers programs in English, German, Spanish and French. The Network’s European service is also carried on the Hot Bird 6 satellite platform.
