Mother Angelica, a Poor Clare nun, founded EWTN in 1980. The Network went on the air on August 15, 1981.

The network is housed in a state-of-the-art multi-media digital complex in Irondale, Alabama.
Who We Are
EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 44th year, is the largest Catholic media organization in the world. EWTN’s 11 networks broadcast in multiple languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 435 million television households in more than 160 countries and territories countries and territories. Platforms include direct broadcast satellite television and more than 6000 television affiliates as well as ROKU, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and multiple social media platforms. Radio services are transmitted through SIRIUS/XM, iHeart Radio, and over 500 domestic and international AM & FM radio affiliates; a worldwide shortwave radio station; the largest Catholic website in the U.S.; electronic and print news services, including “The National Catholic Register” newspaper, and two global wire services; as well as a publishing arm.

According to a study by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, at the end of 2012, EWTN was the largest Catholic website in the U.S., www.ewtn.com.
EWTN Television
EWTN airs commercial-free family and religious programs from a Catholic perspective. Programming is available in English, Spanish, German and French and more than 80% of it is original. The Networks’ diverse programs include live call-in talk shows, news programs, original series, documentaries, and films, teaching series with noted theologians, children’s shows, live coverage of the Pope and important Church events, a live daily Mass, devotions, concerts, music, and much more. EWTN Global Catholic Radio Network broadcasts in English via 500 AM & FM affiliates, SiriusXM Satellite Radio Channel 130, EWTN.com, the EWTN Mobile App as well as the iHeart Radio and TuneIn Radio Apps, Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, YouTube and Facebook. EWTN's Radio Católica Mundial broadcasts in Spanish via 30 AM & FM affiliates in the U.S. and 127 Spanish AM & FM affiliates throughout Latin America.
