Michelle Laque Johnson Joins EWTN as Director of Communications

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – Michelle Laque Johnson, former Editor-in-Chief of The Catholic Standard & Times in Philadelphia, has joined EWTN Global Catholic Network as Director of Communications.

Prior to her position at one of the largest Catholic newspapers in the U.S., Johnson, an award-winning journalist, spent more than 20 years as Managing Editor, Business Editor and Business Reporter for national newspapers such as the New York Bureau of Investor’s Business Daily and city papers, such as The Bethlehem Globe-Times in Bethlehem, Pa. While at The Globe-Times, Johnson won a Keystone Press Award for business and economic news. She was also part of a team of reporters that won the G. Richard Dew Award for Journalistic Achievement for a series on the lack of fire code inspections in city schools. In addition, Johnson served as Editor of Bankruptcy Court Decisions at Horsham, Pa.-based LRP Publications, where she was also responsible for training other journalists and editors.

Johnson holds a Master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, a Master’s in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from San Diego State University, and a B.A. in English from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. In her new position, Johnson will oversee the work of media relations across the globe, as well as the Online Services and Creative Services departments. She and her husband, Stuart, are relocating to EWTN’s headquarters in Irondale, Alabama.
