EWTN Spanish Language Service Now Available to DirecTV Subscribers in Latin America and the Caribbean

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – The international Spanish-language service of EWTN Global Catholic Network has launched on DirecTV in Latin America and the Caribbean. EWTN El Canal Catolicó will now be delivered 24 hours a day throughout the region on Channel 350.

Bishops from throughout Latin America applauded the news.

“I am very satisfied to know that EWTN’s programming will now be available in Venezuela and the rest of Latin America through DirecTV,” said Archbishop Ubaldo Santana, president of the Bishops’ Conference of Venezuela. “I congratulate EWTN and share the joy of a great number of viewers who will have access to the Word of Life in their homes through television. Archbishop Luis Augusto Castro, president of the Bishops’ Conference of Colombia, was equally enthusiastic. “I congratulate DirecTV Colombia and EWTN for having reached this agreement,” he said. “It is a pleasure for all of us to have easy access by means of DirecTV’s service to the national and international transmissions offered by EWTN.”

The newly-elected president of the Bishops’ Conference of Ecuador was also elated by the news. “We have received with much joy the news of the agreement finally reached between EWTN and DirecTV Ecuador,” said Archbishop Antonio Arregui. “This excellent evangelization service made by EWTN will now be available to a great number of Ecuadorian families. May God bless you.”

Countries that will benefit from this agreement include Argentina, Bolivia, the Caribbean (including Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Martinique, Netherlands Antilles, Saba, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Puerto Rico, St. Martin, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Both EWTN and DirecTV Latin America were pleased with the agreement.
