EWTN Launches in Buenos Aires and La Plata on Cablevisiόn & Multicanal’s Digital Platform

Irondale, AL (EWTN) – The international Spanish-language service of EWTN Global Catholic Network launched June 1, 2008 in Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires area and in La Plata on Cablevisiόn & Multicanal’s digital platform. EWTN El Canal Catolicó will now be delivered via the largest cable system in Argentina’s capital, 24 hours a day, on channel 416.

While EWTN has been available in Buenos Aires for a few hours a day since 1996, this new 24 hour launch was made possible thanks to the many requests from viewers.

“It’s about time,” said Héctor Aguer, Archbishop of La Plata, Argentina. “A lot of people were requesting it throughout the country. We now have the possibility of satisfying viewers who want programs that deal with important matters and that help us to be better persons. I am very happy. I celebrate that EWTN is now available 24 hours a day. I express my satisfaction with a blessing to all. Let us hope that these transmissions bear fruit in the hearts of the people.”

Mario Luis Bautista Mauliόn, Archbishop of Paraná and President of the Social Communications Commission of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, also applauded the news.
