If You Love Our Lady of Guadalupe Don’t Miss EWTN’s Special Programs

EWTN will honor Our Lady of Guadalupe on her special feast day, Dec. 12, with television and radio programs on both EWTN and EWTN Espanol. The popularity of these Masses can be gauged from the local crowds, which last year numbered 6,000 in San Antonio, Texas; 10,000 for the Sacramento, California Mass, and 5,000 for the all-night vigil.

EWTN will air many of the programs below worldwide. Please check our website for dates and times.

U.S. programming on EWTN includes:

• “The Cloak of Juan Diego,” which explains the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Hear how her appearance to a peasant farmer named Juan Diego in 1531 brought about the conversion of missions of native Mexicans. St. Juan’s Diego’s cloak is still perfectly preserved after more than four centuries. Recent scientific tests on the image reveal even more astounding findings. (3 a.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET Dec. 9)

• “Our Lady of Guadalupe and Miraculous Mexico,” in which Bishop Roman Danylak and other pilgrims journey to various Mexican shrines, including the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, where the miraculous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe can be seen. (10 p.m. ET Dec. 10 and 5 a.m. ET Dec. 13)

• “A Message of Hope and Healing,” which explores the message and history of Our Lady of Guadalupe and other important devotions. (3 a.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET Dec. 11)

• “Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother of America,” in which Fr. Andrew Apostoli explores the reality of Our Lady of Guadalupe as Mother of America and her importance as a source of light and hope in a dark time. (3 a.m. ET and 6:30 p.m. ET Dec. 12)

• “River of Light” – Part Four of an historical documentary about the founding of the New World documents the 300-year Spanish reign in Mexico and includes information about the impact of the apparition. (8 p.m. ET Dec. 13, 2 a.m. ET Dec. 14, and 1 p.m. ET Dec. 18)

• The Solemn Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe airs live from the San Fernando Cathedral in San Antonio, Texas in both English and Spanish. (12 p.m. ET Dec. 12 , with an encore presentation at 6:30 p.m. ET.) San Antonio Archbishop Jose H. Gomez will preside.

In addition to San Antonio Mass above, U.S. programming on EWTN Español includes:

• Mass from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City (1 a.m. ET Dec. 12 (live))

• Mass from Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in Sacramento, Calif. (9 a.m. E.T. Dec. 12 (live))

• “River of Light,” described above, also airs in Spanish. (8 p.m. ET Dec. 13, and 2 a.m. ET Dec. 14.)

• In addition to carrying the Masses, EWTN’s Radio Catόlico Mundial will again air an all-night vigil from the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Sacramento beginning at 1:30 a.m. ET/10:30 p.m. PT. Programming will include serenades to the Virgin and phone calls from listeners who call in to dedicate prayers or express their love for OLOG.

Radio Catόlico Mundial is mostly carried by radio stations in Latin America. U.S. listeners can access this
