MOTHER ANGELICA NAMED A “CABLE TV PIONEER”

Chicago, IL (EWTN) – EWTN Foundress, Mother M. Angelica, was honored during this week’s National Cable Telecommunications Association (NCTA) annual convention in Chicago, where she was inducted into the “Cable Television Pioneers.” The Pioneers was started by a group of cable executives in 1966 to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the cable television industry. Mother Angelica joins such cable TV notables as Ted Turner, Brian Lamb and John Malone.

The 80 year-old Catholic nun, who is recovering from a stroke she suffered nearly two years ago, was recognized for her vision and pioneering spirit in establishing EWTN in 1981 and for her many years of hosting cable’s first national live religious call-in program, “Mother Angelica Live.”
